ITAR: Empowering Communities and The Most Vulnerable Through Sustainable IT Solutions
Join us in our mission to bridge the digital divide and empower our communities through sustainable IT solutions. At ITAR, we are dedicated to creating positive social impact by repurposing old IT equipment, providing affordable access to technology for NGOs and community organisations and their clients, and ultimately supporting vulnerable individuals in our communities.
Our Approach
We believe in the power of sustainability and social responsibility. Instead of contributing to electronic waste in landfills, we recycle old IT equipment to extract valuable resources and refurbish reusable components and systems.
Our Impact
By partnering with us, NGOs gain access to high-quality refurbished IT equipment at minimum cost. This allows them to stretch their resources further and focus on their core mission of serving their communities. Through our partnerships with organisations like yours, we have been able to reach vulnerable individuals, including, as an example, young adults leaving the foster care system, providing them with access to technology for work and study purposes. We’re well aware the majority of young adults have access to a smartphone, however having a computer and/or laptop to be able to undertake study or write and send a resume, we’re finding them coming up short.
How Your Organisation Can Benefit
Access to Affordable Technology: Our refurbished IT equipment is available to NGOs at the minimum cost possible, enabling you to allocate your resources more effectively. For example, the laptops we have been sourcing recently are around 2-3 years old, are of business grade as opposed to consumer (eg: HP Elitebook 840 G5/6) and we are able to provide them fully refurbished, including a genuine charger.
Positive Social Impact: By partnering with us, you contribute to reducing electronic waste and empower individuals in need with access to technology. We have created this social enterprise to offer a hand up, as opposed to a hand out. As we continue to grow, we will employ locals from our communities, paying full wages, and teaching hands on IT skills and giving experience that is so sought after in the open labour market.
Support for Vulnerable and Disadvantaged Communities: Your organisation can directly impact the lives of young adults entering adulthood and society, and other disadvantaged individuals by providing them with essential IT equipment for their education and employment opportunities.
What we do
Through our meticulous refurbishment process, we ensure that every piece of equipment is optimised for functionality and reliability. This includes a full strip and reseat of components, both internal and external clean of housings, components and fans, renewing thermal conductive paste on heatsinks, and putting each item through strenuous bench testing.
End-user equipment for those in need
If you represent a local NGO or NFP and need end-user IT equipment for your clients, please contact us to discuss how we can assist in getting this equipment to you.
